Welcome to Worthing First

Worthing First is an inclusive business partnership that enables its members across the private and public sectors to work together strategically in addressing the Town’s economic challenges, helping to establish Worthing as a successful centre for business.

The primary aim for Worthing First, and the working groups, is to collate business views and provide a central voice for the Worthing business community. It is important however to recognise the importance of the Voluntary Sector and Tourism industry in this process.

Worthing First lends a wing to the Worthing Birdman event

You should be aware by now, that Worthing will be hosting BIRDMAN - the world famous event for flight enthusiasts and their crazy contraptions.

The event will bring thousands of visitors to Worthing over the weekend of 5th and 6th July this year; and will gain both national and international publicity - just look at the press coverage it has gained over the last 2 weeks. The Bognor Birdman Trust estimates that over £250,000 of publicity is easily achieved at no cost from the event.

With a seat on the events team, Worthing First have been asked to co-ordinate 'corporate flyers' - that's you guys - who think you've got the feathers to take a leap of faith off the launch pad on Worthing Pier in July.

We only have 15 'corporate flyer' spaces left. If you and your company are interested in entering a flight team, please click here and email for an application.

There are literally hundreds of exciting sponsorship opportunities, so please keep your eyes plucked.

Originating in Selsey, West Sussex, in 1971, Birdman moved to Bognor Regis in 1978. In '69 the end of Bognor pier was damaged by storms, and in 1999 a 90ft section washed into the sea. A further 60ft section was recently demonlished for safety reasons, rendering the pier too short to use safely for the Birdman event (high tide water levels - too shallow).
