It lobbies national government for issues that effect British small businesses. It's a fee paying organisation, costing upwards from £150 a year. But it's joining benefits far outweigh the cost of joining. (For instance, free merchant account setup for members, which would normally cost approx £300 plus. The local FBS branch (Worthing and District) is ran by a 9 strong committee headed by Trevor Constable. It has over 600 members within the area. It takes place every Wednesday morning and the very luxurious 'Ardington Hotel' on Steyne Gardens, in the Indigo Restaurant. They are an independent group of business people who support each other and try to get effective business leads. Whilst they are based in Worthing their members work throughout Sussex, some offer a UK wide service and the lucky few have international customers. The aim is to make business networking both effective and enjoyable. The chamber is a fee paying organisation, with annual fees starting from £70 a year. It is an international phenomenon. Started 20 years ago, in the US, it is a regular weekly meeting of business men and women, ran to strict guidelines which WORK. It's now the biggest international organisation of its type. And the strongest region in the world, is right here on the South Coast. BNI is like marmite... you either love it or you hate it. It's all about refferals with the ethos 'Givers Gain' - If you refer business to me, I will want to refer business to you. BNI Worthing meets every Thursday at Hill Barn Golf club, the meetings start at 7am sharp and finish on the dot of 8.30 BNI membership is approx £400 a year, and you also pay for your breakfast (approx £10).
