Worthing First NewsThe latest news from Worthing First.... Worthing First Supports Cycling along the Prom 11/04/2008Recent press coverage about the transport model plans, which relate to a high level meeting with Col Tex Pemberton, Nick Herbert, The Highways Agency and the Roads minister, is very reassuring although at the end of the day the district would benefit from significant road infrastructure improvements. The transport group urge the Borough Council at the right time to support some or all of the amalgam of options proposed by the A27 Task Group in May 2007. In the meantime Roger Foregard said ‘The concession being made to cyclists to use ‘Shared Space’ along part of the Promenade is to be welcomed and after the initial 6 months we trust the Borough Council will formally permit cycling all along the promenade by way of a cycle route as an extension from Splash Point to the end of the Promenade’. Roger urges all cyclists to make full and safe use of this concession, on the premise of ‘Use it or lose it’. This is one of the smaller measures to make travelling about the district a pleasurable activity.
