Worthing Business Awards 2010

The continued success of the Worthing Business Awards is very important to us, and with Worthing First having been without any funds since June 2008, in order to move the event forward, it was essential that it become more of a Worthing event, rather than a Worthing First event. The decision was made earlier this year to share the awards with the EDRP.

The awards are now a joint event, through members of the Economic Development and Regeneration Partnership (EDRP). Originated by Worthing First in 2007, The awards were handed over to EDRP to ensure their continual success during these hard times, being treated as a joint event for all Worthing business organisations to equally contribute to a great event. The ceremony is the finale of months of nominations and judging for the town's best businesses.

Following meetings earlier this year between The Awards committee and The Worthing Herald, The Herald agreed to get involved with both the sponsorship, promotion and running of the awards. The EDRP still controling the event and the judging, with The Herald ensuring the event and nominations gets all the publicity is deserves.

Nominations begin on 4th June 2010, ending around 31st August 2010 - for more info on the nominations, please click HERE.

The Worthing Business Awards 2010 ceremony date has been set for Saturday 9th October 2010.

How it all works

The Awards
The Worthing Business Awards recognise the best local businesses in the Worthing area.

The Worthing Business Awards are split into 17 different categories with the additional
overall award - Worthing Business of the Year (as above).

How do you enter?
Your business can be entered into the awards by the people who really matter to your business - your customers. Your business can be nominated in any of the 17 categories.

The nominations can be done in different ways:
          - using the printed entry form
          - downloading the entry form from the Worthing Business Awards website
          - complete the online nomination on the Worthing Business Awards website
          - fill in the nomination form from the Worthing Herald newspaper

Nominations open on June 4th and close on 31st August.

How are the awards judged?
Each of the 17 awards has a separate judging panel made up of members of the Worthing EDRP, a Worthing Borough Councillor and the relevant sponsor of the award.

The judging panel will meet after the closing date for entries to select a shortlist of possible award-winners. These shortlists will be announced in September.

The actual award winner will be selected by the judging panel in the week leading up to the Awards Night.

When and where are the awards presented?
The Awards Night for the Worthing Business Awards 2009 will take place at the Worthing Pavilion on Saturday, October 10, 2009.

What do you win?
Winners of each category win a ‘One Award’ presented at the Awards Night by the award sponsor. There will also be a range of publicity and marketing opportunities from being short-listed and winning the award.

The Awards Ceremony
On the night, the sponsors will be presenting the award to the winners in front of a packed house at Worthing’s Pier Pavilion. One organisation will be crowned 'Worthing Business of
the Year 2009'. Not only will they receive £1000 of advertising courtesy of the Worthing Herald (TBC), but also the prestigious 'One Award' trophy.
